Builders Paradise to close its doors

17 JANUARY 2017

CAY HILL–After operating in St. Maarten for 22 years since 1994, Builders Paradise in Cay Hill will be closing its doors, it was announced in a press release on Monday.

The reasons for the closure were not outlined in the release. Information was also not provided on what arrangements have been made with staffers currently in the company’s employ.

The store said it had hired veteran retail liquidator Eaton-Hudson from Canada to run its store closing. Eaton-Hudson will guide Builders Paradise in disposing of everything in its store and warehouse, including furniture, fixtures and equipment, “at deeply discounted prices.” The liquidation sale begins this week and will run until the entire US $2,000,000 inventory has been sold, it was stated in the release.

Builders Paradise opened 22 years ago. Under the guidance of Hansel Jones, it was able to grow and by forming relationships with key manufacturers it gained a reputation for its prices, the release said.

Jones expressed his gratitude to the community for supporting the establishment. “For the past 22 years, Builders Paradise has genuinely enjoyed supporting our customers on the island. We thank you for your support and thank our devoted store associates for their dedication and friendly customer service to this community,” he said.

Eaton-Hudson is owned by the Eaton family, formally Eaton’s Department Store. It provides solutions for the disposition of excess, obsolete and discontinued inventory and other assets.
