St. Maarten civil servants' union to write prime minister on Cost of Living Adjustment

MONDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2013

PHILIPSBURG–The Windward Islands Civil Servants Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU) will be sending a letter to Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams on the recent developments concerning the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).

The union will also request a meeting with the Prime Minister to show its willingness to dialogue on this matter.

These are the results of a meeting the union held with its membership last week.

WICSU/PSU President Dearie Leonard said the letter to Wescot-Williams will address issues such as indexation of workers’ salaries for the 50 per cent COLA that Wescot-Williams said will be paid out by mid-November, and including the remaining 50 per cent COLA for 2011, as well as the 100 per cent COLA in the 2014 budget.

Leonard looks forward to meeting with Wescot-Williams on these issues as she continues to represent the interest of her members in the civil service.
