Willemstad – Voormalig Girobank-direc- teur Eric Garcia heeft de aankoop van deze voormalige staatsbank kunnen realiseren door miljoenen ‘te onttrekken’ aan in deconfiture verkerende Venezolaanse banken (waarvoor hij jarenlang curator was). Het gaat om 24 miljoen dollar, ofwel ruim 43 miljoen gulden.
Gelden die ‘op onrechtmatig wijze’ uit die Venezolaanse banken zijn gehaald om de overname door Giro Holdings nv (voorheen: IIG TOF Holdings) van 58 procent van de aandelen in Girobank nv mede te financieren.
Zo blijkt uit documenten bestudeerd door het Antilliaans Dagblad . Het betreft enerzijds het vonnis waarin het Hof heeft geoordeeld het, net als het Gerecht in Eerste Aanleg, ook van oordeel te zijn dat Giro Holdings in de toestand verkeert dat zij is opgehouden te betalen.
